Situation 11 - The Students’ Parents or Sponsor now reside
outside Québec
Note 1: The student cannot have left Québec and then returned to Québec since the departure of their parents or sponsor.
 
Note 2: Parent(s) or Sponsor must have dwelled in Québec as residents, not visitors
 
Note 3: The student must have continued residing in Québec after their parents or sponsor stopped residing in Québec.

Required documents (4 or more)

Kinship with parents Number of required documents
  • A copy of a document confirming kinship such as a birth certificate indicating the name/s of the mother and/or father.

    Note: Acceptable proof of kinship is a copy of one of the following types of documents:

    • The long form of a Canadian birth certificate showing the names of the students’ parents.
    • The landing paper of a permanent resident (IMM-1000 or the IMM 5292). This document must show the parents' and child's names along with the relationship, (parent or child).
    • A copy of an official translation in English or French of a foreign language birth certificate. A copy of the original document must accompany a translation. The translation alone is not acceptable.
    • The parent's passport showing the child's name and birth date.
    • In exceptional circumstances, when a long-form birth certificate from a foreign country is not available due to civil or political disturbance, a sworn statement by the student confirming the names of their parents and a description the relationship (parent and child).

    OR

Sponsorship of a permanent resident of Canada
  • A copy of the student’s landing paper (IMM-1000 or IMM 5292) with the name of the sponsor appearing in box 15.
     
    Note: If the landing paper does not show the name of the sponsor, the student cannot use this situation.
AND AND
Proof of domicile (Student)

Note: Proof that the student’s principle and permanent domicile has been in Québec since their Parents or Sponsor stopped residing in Québec.
  • A copy of the students’ property tax bills from the time their parents or sponsor stopped residing in Québec to the academic session for which the student is applying for Québec resident tuition rates.

          OR

  • A copy of the students’ school tax bill/s from the time their parents or sponsor stopped residing in Québec to the academic session for which the student is applying for Québec resident tuition rates.

          OR

  • A copy of the students’ lease from the time their parents or sponsor stopped residing in Québec to the academic session for which the student is applying for Québec resident tuition rates.

          OR

  • If the students’ lease has expired, a copy of the expired lease along with a copy of a landlord letter confirming that the lease has been renewed, covering the period from the time their parents or sponsor stopped residing in Québec to the academic session for which the student is applying for Québec resident tuition rates.

  AND  
  • Two different pieces of official correspondence addressed to the student, proving the receipt of mail during the period in question at the address indicated on the lease or municipal tax assessment.
 

The following documents will be accepted:

  • public service invoices
  • driver’s license
  • official correspondence from a municipal, provincial or federal government
  • official correspondence from a financial institution
  • correspondence from an educational institution
AND AND
Proof of domicile (Parents or Sponsor)

Note: Proof that the parents’ or sponsors’ principle and permanent domicile was in Québec up until the time of their departure from Quebec.
  • A copy of the parents’ or sponsors’ property tax bill before they moved from Québec.

          OR

  • A copy of the parents’ or sponsors’ school tax bill before they moved from Québec.

          OR

  • A copy of the parents’ or sponsors’ lease before they moved from Québec.

          OR

  • If the parents’ or sponsors’ lease had expired, a copy of the expired lease along with a copy of a landlord letter confirming that the lease had been renewed up until the time they moved from Québec.
